A first cathedral was dedicated in July 1077 by the bishop Odon de Conteville, William The Conqueror's brother. Destroyed by a fire during the 12th century it was rebuilt in a gothic style during the 13th century.
History says that the Bayeux Tapestry was made to decorate the nave of the Cathedral, masterpiece from the medieval era.
